Beaverton Education Foundation is honored to announce that the Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation’s Community Giving Program has awarded the Foundation a grant of $4,000 for use in expanding BEF Camp Achieve Summer program.

Camp Achieve is designed to serve students of all abilities and skills. School calendars remain unchanged for over 100 years, while demands and expectations significantly increase. Many at-risk students lack an educationally supportive environment over the summer and return to school with diminished skills (often called “summer slide”). Camp Achieve aims to address this problem by offering an entire 9 weeks of school over the summer through the collaboration of three elementary schools and offer high-quality, research-based instruction. In addition, this program has key partnerships with community-based organizations to provide enrichment activities leveraging existing resources to increase the number of children served.

Continuing its strong tradition of minimizing the “summer slide”, BEF is thrilled to continue working with the partner schools to build on past successes and share our thanks to the Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation Community Giving Program as they will be a cornerstone support for the programs.
