| July 1, 2016 | 0 Comments

By Police Staff

There is a new type of traffic signal on Farmington Road near TVF&R’s fire station and at Hall Blvd near Fanno Creek.

It is called a “HAWK” or High-intensity Activated crossWalK signal. This button-activated signal has been safely and successfully used in other US cities. The HAWK signal is used at midblock crosswalks on high traffic volume streets. HAWK signals have been found to substantially increase motorist awareness and produce a high motorist stopping rate.
