Health & Happiness: Pranks and Pitfalls, Don’t Joke around with Your Health

Remember America’s Funniest Videos, and their long-running stream of kids falling, parents getting knocked out, and teenagers performing dangerous homemade stunts? Or of April Fools’ Day pranks that go a little too far? We have videos like these playing in our office, but not because they make us laugh. They serve as a reminder that even seemingly minor trauma can be the cause of injury and misalignment with lasting impacts on your entire body. Pain is often the last symptom to be experienced after damage has been done and because we “feel” fine, we neglect our health and wait for something to get bad enough that we have to take action.

It’s time to be proactive with your family’s health. You get your teeth checked regularly even if you don’t have a cavity; the same preventative approach should be taken with your spinal health—something that controls the systems of your entire body. Kids are especially prone to taking spills, and spinal misalignment caused by even a “minor” accident can affect normal development down the line.
