Honored for Bike Friendliness, Beaverton Remains a Silver City

For the second time in eight years, Beaverton has earned a Silver rating in the League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly Community program. Beaverton is in fact the only Bicycle Friendly Community in Washington County and one of just three Silver communities in Oregon! Our recently- adopted Active Transportation Plan was recognized by the League as a blueprint for future development of a more connected network of safe bicycle facilities.

The Active Transportation Plan includes goals such as continuing to install bike paths along commuter routes and near schools and upgrading existing off-road bike trails.

The Beaverton Bicycle Advisory Committee will be looking carefully at the League’s recommendations for making Beaverton an even more bicycle friendly community. The goal is to earn a gold rating next time.

What can you do to help us achieve this goal? Come and participate in a Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting, share your insights and opinions, and get out and ride!

Bicycle Advisory Committee meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month at the Columbia River Room on the fifth floor of City Hall, 12725 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton.
