Pacific Gas & Electric: Convert wastewater into renewable energy, Thanks, Green Future customers!
A $3 million contribution through the Green Energy Renewable Development Fund is upgrading a water treatment plant in Salem. The improvements will allow the Willow Lake Cogeneration Facility to convert biogas byproduct into up to 1,200 kilowatts of electricity (nearly half of what’s needed to operate the plant for a year). The project will also keep 5,000 metric tons of pollution-causing gases out of the atmosphere, and it will save the City of Salem more than $300,000 a year in energy costs.
