The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
(August 4 – 26, 2023)
If pageantry is what you are looking for, it doesn’t get any better than the 76th Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which returns to Scotland’s Edinburgh Castle Esplanade in August. This crowd-pleasing spectacle showcases international military bands and other artistic troupes in exuberant performances featuring dancers, drummers, and fiddlers. The ‘Tattoo’ is among the most iconic of the Edinburgh Festivals.
Okctoberfest
(Sept 16 – Oct 3, 2023)
Prost! Celebrate the start of the 188th Oktoberfest by watching the procession of brewers alongside their festive horse drawn carts, and the costume parade, and marksmen’s salute. Afterwards, join the revelry in the beer tents. Sip beers from local Munich breweries and savor treats such as kirschwasser donuts and schupfnudel dumplings. For kids, don’t miss the family friendly Olde Wiesn, and mini-Okctoberfest complete with carnival rides and festival tents.
Venice Carnevale 2024
(February 3 – 13, 2024)
If you’ve ever dreamed of dancing at a masked ball or sipping a bubbly in your private palazzo overlooking Venice’s Grand Canal, Carnevale di Venezia is for you. The entire city of Venice transforms into an even more magical place during the mid-winter carnival celebrations. To really join in the fun, don your own mask and sweeping cape, called a ‘tabarro.’ We recommend an all-inclusive tour package to include exclusive experiences, such as a costumed gondola tour.
2024 Summer Olympics
(July 26 – August 11, 2024)
Paris was awarded the Games, in 2017. Having previously hosted in 1900 and 1924, Paris will become the second city (after London) to host the Summer Olympics three times. Paris 2024 will mark the centenary of Paris 1924, be the sixth Olympic games hosted by France (three in summer and three in winter), and the first Olympic Games in France since the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. The Games will feature the debut of breaking (breakdancing) as an Olympic event.
