5-year-old holds Blood Drive: Emmi wants to help others

5-year-old saved by blood transfusion holds blood drive to help others.

Last month, a very special blood drive in Hillsboro was held in honor of a little girl and her brave journey. Emmi Bradley was just three years old when she and her family got the life-changing news that she had a rare disease where bone marrow does not produce an adequate number of new blood cells.

Emmi spent 159 days in and out of the hospital until Sept. 2023, when they found a donor match that was able to give Emmi a bone marrow transplant. Thanks to that transplant, Emmi’s body is now able to produce healthy blood cells. Now Emmi and her family are hoping that sharing her story will encourage people to donate blood.
