If you’ve lived in Beaverton or the Sylvan/Raleigh Hills area for a while, there’s a good chance you’ve driven past our shop on Canyon Road more times than you can count. Maybe we’ve even had the pleasure of working on your car — or your parents’ car. If you’ve missed us, we are tucked behind the used car lot on the corner of Canyon Road and SW 97th.

Our roots here go back further than our sign. My dad, Wally, was turning wrenches near Capitol Highway before he opened Wally’s Chevron Service Station on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, where 7Eleven is now. That’s where I grew up in this business — pumping gas and learning the trade.

In 1984, we decided to move away from the gas companies and shifted our focus entirely to automotive repair and opened Wally & Son Automotive in the same spot we are at today, across from the Best Western. When Dad retired in the late ’90s, I kept it going — and I’m proud to say it’s stayed a family operation. My daughter Jamie served as our Service Advisor for over a decade before moving on in her career. My wife Tiersa is the reason everything runs as smoothly as it does behind the scenes, and our Service Advisor Ingrid brings real care to every customer she works with. Steven is our Shop Manager and ASE Certified Master Technician — and while you might catch him in the office occasionally, he’s usually holding down the fort in the shop itself. We just celebrated his 21st year with us, and we wouldn’t have wanted to do this without him. Oh — and you may also be greeted by our shop dogs, who take their welcome duties very seriously.

With summer just around the corner, it’s also a great time to think about getting your car season-ready — cooling system, air conditioning service, tires, belts, fluids. A little attention now goes a long way on those warmer days and longer road trips.

What I love most about this job isn’t fixing things — it’s the people. Customers who’ve been with us for decades. Families who bring in their kids’ first cars. Neighbors who wave when they drive by (even if we can’t see them!).

Getting to be a part of this community, day in and day out, is something we don’t take for granted. We love supporting Raleigh Hills Elementary in their annual Jog-A-Thon, we are longtime supporters of Relay for Life, a cause close to our hearts, and of course local dog organizations.
