A typical week working in the busy Beaverton car market

Hello Loyal Beaverton Readers, I greatly appreciate the calls and emails about the last few articles. This month we will talk about Tim, who lives in South Beaverton, my part of town.

Looking to buy a used car: One of Tim’s vehicles was getting older, and he wanted help replacing it with something a bit newer. Since the budget he had to work with was not huge, he prefers to go with used cars, and this is just fine with me. From experience, I knew that if given enough time, the right vehicle would pop up. They always do. I’ll get back to Tim in a little bit.

Looking to sell their used car: A few days later, another Beaverton resident called stating he and his wife were at the stage of only needing one car as they were in their early 80’s. I asked what they were wanting to do and they said they wanted to sell their 2016 Subaru Forester Limited. When I went over to appraise their car, they told me that they had lost the keys and it was backed into the garage.

I was a bit shocked as I was concerned how in the world we would get the car out of the garage with no key. So I made arrangements for a tow company to pick up the car, and tow it to my favorite shop to get a key cut and programmed. Later that day, we were able to get the vehicle started but before we took off, the shop technician noticed that the vehicle was in need of some routine maintenance and after a quick inspection, I agreed. They did what was needed while we were there and then afterwards, I told the Subaru owner I would purchase their car and sell it to someone I think would be very interested. They were happy to make the quick sale.

One car bought, same car sold: After getting the car completely detailed so that it was spotless both inside and out, I was ready to show it to Tim. If all worked out, this would be the 4th vehicle I have assisted Tim with. I had not told him about this vehicle yet, as I was waiting to see how everything played out. Once the detail was completed to my satisfaction, I sent Tim a text message with some photos and asked if a 2016 Subaru Forester would work for him. Tim mentioned that his in-laws had owned this exact type of car and they loved it for many years. Tim had driven the in-law’s Subaru many times and thought this would be a great fit.

Tim was away for work and not available for several days, but I told him I would not put it up for sale until he had a chance to look at it first. Tim showed up to take a look and test drive it. Upon Tim’s return, he purchased it like I kind of knew he would. It was the 4th car I have sold Tim over the years.

I love return customers and they hopefully love me. I believe the greatest compliment a business owner can get is a repeat client or a referral. Once Tim arrived home with the Subaru, he did indeed send me a referral. Thank you, Tim! I am so pleased to have been abke to assist you once again.

Thank you all for reading!
