Adopt a Bird: Meet Billy & Sebastian

Adopt a Bird: Meet Billy & Sebastian

This month we would like to introduce you to Billy, the Triton cockatoo! Triton cockatoos are one of the four sub-species of sulfur-crested cockatoos. Billy is three years old and tends to prefer women, so he would be a great companion for any single ladies out there! Like most cockatoos, Billy is a cuddler and enjoys spending as much time as possible with his human. He likes to play Peek-a-Boo and says ‘Hi’. Some of Billy’s favorite foods include fruit, nuts and dried chillis and this boy loves playing on rope toys and chewing up wood and paper. It’s advisable to read up on what it’s like to share your life with a cockatoo before considering adoption; they are incredibly loving and fun birds, but due to their high intelligence and need for socialization they can be a lot of work! Studies have shown that Cockatoos have the intelligence and emotional capacity of a two to four-year-old human child!

Our other featured bird for this month is Sebastian, the Catalina macaw. Catalina macaws are a hybrid between a Blue and Gold Macaw and a Scarlet Macaw. Sebastian is twenty-five years old and when he builds up trust with his people, he is absolute joy to be around. He loves hanging out on his human’s arm, cuddles and belly rubs and has had harness training in the past where he enjoyed walks outdoors. Sebastian can say a few phrases, like “’Hello’, ‘Step up’, ‘Brat’, and ‘Papa’” and likes flirting with new people. He likes fruit, veggies and pasta chop and loves playing with his metal pail toy.
