Adopt a Bird: Meet Lemon & Bowie and Bitsy

A bonded pair of sibling cockatiels, Lemon and Bowie, are among our featured birds for this month! Lemon is a male who is very funny, charming and loves to play peek-a-boo. He enjoys singing “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and is very friendly with new people. Lemon’s favorite foods are millet and baby spinach. Bowie, Lemon’s sister, is quieter as is usual for female cockatiels. She can be anxious around other pets, so a bird only household might be a better fit for these two! Bowie is extremely sweet and will warm up to a human willing to offer her favorite treats. Both birds are three years old and enjoy time to free-fly in their home. Cockatiels are fun, curious and sweet birds that can bring lots of joy and love to their human family.

Our other featured bird for the month is Bitsy, the Hahns Macaw. Bitsy is five years old, and like most Hahns, is a “velcro bird” – she likes to be on her person as often as possible! She has a very sweet personality with her people, but can be a bit of a bully towards other birds her size or smaller – though she has gotten along in households that have dogs and other animals. Hahns are the smallest of the macaws and have a big bird personality in a little body! Bitsy likes an array of food, is an excellent flyer, and can be clownish and very cuddly. She says a few words like “Hello”, “kisses”, and “come on”! She loves going outside in either her bird aviary or harness.
