Another sad Kia story ends happily ever after

Hello Loyal Beaverton Readers! Thank you all who have written and called in. I really appreciate the feedback. For this month I wanted to talk about some longtime clients, Charlotte (Char) and Pat.
Earlier today, I received a call from Char whose daughter, Nancy, was having some difficulty with her Kia Soul. I admit that I was not overly surprised as Kia has been having a number of engine failures in recent times (in fact, I dedicated a whole article to the subject earlier this year).
I asked if the Kia had been serviced recently and Char was clear that it had been serviced within the last week. As it turns out, the Kia had some engine noise that was described to me as similar to a rock polisher (not good).
Char and Pat had the car towed to a local repair facility to have a diagnosis performed. Within an hour, the shop reported that the engine had failed miserably. Char called me back to report the engine failure. I Could sense the urgency in Char’s voice as Nancy had no way to get to work not to mention picking up her kids from school.
As it turns out, I had a car returning from the detail shop that day. It was a nice and clean 2013 Subaru Outback with only 81k miles and it was ready to be listed. I thought about calling Char but she ended up calling me first to ask if I had a loaner available.
I said I did not, however, since they have purchased so many cars from me over the years, I would be willing to sell them a car for my cost, if this would help them out.
I explained and described the car to them over the phone and asked if they wanted to test drive it. They were interested so I popped over with my wife less than 15 minutes later and let them take the Subaru out for a spin. Upon their return, Char said to hang on a second while she got her checkbook. I never had a chance to list the car.
The moral of the story is, doing the right thing always matters. I am thankful for the opportunity to have such a huge client base and most of them are friends. Char and Pat have purchased 5 vehicles from me over the years.
