As we move into fall… What makes Beaverton home?

Summer in Beaverton is something special. It is a season that invites us to pause, connect, and enjoy the many ways our community comes alive.

From the creativity on display at the Children’s Entrepreneur Market during National Night Out to the magic of our Night Market, summer reminds me how dynamic and diverse our city truly is. That diversity is one of our greatest strengths.

As we move into fall, the calendar will be busy, but the connections and memories we have built this summer give me energy for what is ahead. We are growing our volunteer and emergency preparedness programs, investing in creative solutions to meet community needs, and offering events all season long, from the Beaverton Music Festival to Winter Lights to One Book, One Beaverton.

Beaverton is a place where people want to belong. With new businesses opening and new opportunities emerging, I am excited for what is ahead because I know we are stronger when we work together. That spirit of togetherness shows up in everything from our cultural events to projects that support intergenerational living and childcare.

Recently, I joined Congresswoman Bonamici to announce Meadowlark Place, a project that will provide housing for older adults, along with a Head Start preschool and community space. We reaffirmed our commitment to making sure the people who love Beaverton, and who have built their lives here, can stay here. This project, and so many others, reflect a city that does not shy away from challenges but instead looks for ways to help people thrive and build the future they imagine.

I am proud to lead a community that believes in possibility, works together, and takes care of one another.

That is what makes Beaverton home.
