At almost 80 years old, Deb wanted one last car

For this month we will talk about my client (and new friend) Deb who was experiencing some health problems a few years ago. Deb originally read about what I do in the Beaverton Resource Guide and gave me a call regarding her Honda CRV. She was not going to be able to drive for a while and wanted to sell it, which I did. Even after giving her the check for her car, we stayed in contact over the next couple of years.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, Deb let me know that her health had improved and she was now able to drive again (yay!). We arranged for a time to meet. I picked her up and we went to go test drive some cars she had in mind. After test driving and figuring out that Deb wanted a new vehicle but only a 3-year lease because she was nearly 80 years old and wasn’t sure just how long she wanted to continue to drive.
Deb settled on a white Subaru Crosstrek which is a nice all-wheel drive vehicle, not too big but spacious with a hatchback. She wanted the “Limited” trim level so she could have the options she wanted. She liked the color white and did not care much about the interior color which would make things easier for me. Other specifics were no moon roof and no huge screen in the middle of the dash. Luckily, Subaru makes such a model: a 2026 Crosstrek Limited Trim Package #31.
The next step was for me to reach out to my supplier and inquire about availability. Since the Subaru Crosstrek is popular, the vehicle Deb wanted was in stock and ready for immediate pick up. When I asked Deb if she wanted to go to the dealership, she said that with her health, she did not think she could spend half of a day sitting at the dealership dealing with a salesperson or manager who might try to upsell her. That is always a concern even though I’d be by her side, but I understood. Instead, I reached back to the Fleet Sales Manager and arranged for the car to be delivered to my office.
The very next day, the vehicle arrived at my office with all of the necessary paperwork. I quickly let Deb know and drove the vehicle to her house. We did all of the paperwork and after showing Deb how to operate everything on her new Subaru. Deb was thrilled and took it for a little spin. She was gone for a long time, so we’ll call it a long spin. I’ll count her as another satisfied client.
Need a pre-owned vehicle inspected before buying? I of course recommend calling Metro Car Care (503-244-6404).
