Bavaria, beers, beavers and bears? It must be Zootoberfest!

Autumn is arriving, and the Oregon Zoo is serving up fall fun for those 21 and over. Zootoberfest offers craft beverage samples from more than 45 Northwest breweries and cideries — plus live music from Rockit Radio, keeper chats, lawn games and more, Sept. 26–27.

“Zootoberfest is all the fun of an Oktoberfest celebration made even better among animals from the zoo and the beautiful, forested hills of Washington Park,” said zoo events director Jamie Inglis.

Seasonal attire is encouraged, Inglis says, so expect lederhosen, dirndls and Tyrolean hats as Zootoberfest brings a touch of Bavarian style to the zoo.

Beer and cider lovers will find a wide variety of tastes to complement a lively fall evening, with seasonal offerings such as Pumpkin Spice from the Seattle Cider Co. and Blood Orange Wheat Ale from Full Sail Brewery. From savory stouts to crisp ciders and much more, every pour supports a great cause.

“Proceeds benefit the zoo’s programs for species recovery, animal well-being and conservation education,” Inglis said. “Folks can support wildlife and have a great time doing it.”

Admission includes a souvenir mug and 10 tasting tickets. Food will be available for purchase — including tasty German sausages from Brat Haus and fresh, warm pretzels, of course. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., and taps will be pouring until 9 p.m. Zootoberfest is exclusive to guests 21 and over. Valid photo ID must be presented for entry.
