Beaverton Elks Lodge Christmas baskets and Hoop shoot events
Christmas Baskets:
The Beaverton Elks is seeking applicants for our 2025 Christmas Baskets. The Baskets are for people and families who wouldn’t have Christmas presents or dinner without help. Residents must live in Beaverton or have children in the Beaverton School District.
- Deadline to apply is December 12. Pick up is Saturday, December 20. Applicants will be called on December 17 with an approximate pick-up time.
To get an application please contact secretary@beavertonelks.org or stop by the Beaverton Elks Lodge at 3464 SW 106th Ave, Beaverton. Applications must be returned by mail or scanned and emailed to secretary@beavertonelks.org.
Elks Hoop Shoot:
The Elks Hoop Shoot is a national free throw contest that has been unleashing gritty kids for more than 50 years. Here’s what every Hoop Shoot participant needs to know.
How does it work?
- Youth ages 8-13 advance through local contests (starting with preliminary contests or a Lodge contest), Districts, States, and Regionals to the National Finals in Chicago.
- Six National Champions will have their names and photos displayed at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Why Hoop Shoot?
- Gritty kids are determined hard workers. Gritty kids become gritty adults with strong work ethics and goal-setting skills.
- It’s free! The Elks cover travel costs through each level.
- The Hoop Shoot can offer similar life lessons as other sports programs. But what other program offers kids the chance to be in the Hall of Fame?
The Beaverton Elks is hosting our Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest on Saturday, December 6 from 2-4 at the Cedar Hills Recreation Center (11640 SW Park Way). This is a contest for ages 8-13 and is open to anyone in the Beaverton School District area (including private schools).
There are preliminary local events, then district, regional, state and national. Participants have the opportunity to get their name in the Naismith memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
