Beaverton is better because of you – What matters is people

November is a time when we pause—between the rush of fall and the sparkle of winter—to take stock of what matters most. And here in Beaverton, what matters is people.

I see it every day. In the neighbor who checks in on an elder. In the volunteers who show up—rain or shine—to support our emergency prep efforts. In the small business owners who keep our downtown vibrant. This is a city that shows up for each other.

We’ve had a big year. We’re testing bold ideas to tackle housing, investing in climate-smart infrastructure, and making sure our city works for everyone—not just today, but for the long haul. That takes grit. It takes creativity. And it takes all of us.

This month, we’ll gather for Veterans Day, for Diwali, for Thanksgiving. These moments remind us that service, light, and gratitude are not just words—they’re actions. As a veteran, I carry those values with me every day. And as your mayor, I see them reflected back in this community.

So, thank you—for your ideas, your hustle, your heart. Beaverton is better because of you.
