The Oregon Ash is the only ash species native to the Pacific Northwest, growing naturally throughout wet lowlands and riparian areas. In ideal conditions, it can reach 70–80 feet tall, though in drier soils it may remain closer to 25 feet. With its durability and preference for moist habitats, the Oregon Ash is commonly used in conservation and restoration projects. Local wildlife—including birds and squirrels—use the tree for cover and food, especially its one‑winged, canoe‑shaped samaras.
