Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July – Concert and Celebration Event

#CityNews

Community members are encouraged to celebrate the Fourth of July this year safely with consideration to neighbors and our environment. Loud explosions frighten pets and negatively impact sensitive populations. Debris and wayward sparks may cause unintentional fires. While lighting fireworks has been a long-standing tradition, why not start a new tradition this year?

Light up the night with glow sticks or LED flow toys. String lights across your backyard and enjoy playing games such as horseshoes or cornhole after the sun goes down. You could set up a backyard watch party and view a televised fireworks event. These are just a few fun ideas for celebrating Independence Day without fireworks.

If celebrating with fireworks is your passion, please do so by following safety recommendations from fire officials on use and disposal. And always, keep it legal! Legal fireworks may be purchased only from Oregon permitted fireworks retailers and stands. Oregon law forbids possession, use or sale of fireworks that fly, explode or behave in an uncontrollable or unpredictable manner.

Please keep in mind that though the current weather may be rainy, conditions may quickly change. Be on the lookout for possible Red Flag Warnings that would restrict use of fireworks in our area.
