Community Clothing Closet: You’re Invited on October 10

Looking to refresh your wardrobe or support a great cause? Join us for the Ladies in Blue 2025 Community Clothing Closet, hosted in partnership with the Beaverton Police Department. This welcoming, family-friendly event takes place from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, at the Beaverton Resource Center 13565 SW Walker Rd.

Everyone is welcome! We’re offering free clothing for individuals and families of all ages. Whether you’re in need of seasonal staples or simply want to embrace sustainability by giving gently used clothing a second life, we’d love to see you there.

About the Ladies in Blue: The Ladies in Blue began in 2015 when Beaverton Police Officer Michel Wilson hosted a small clothing exchange in her basement for women connected to the law enforcement community. What started as a grassroots effort quickly grew, bringing together officers, dispatchers, spouses, and friends in a spirit of sharing and empowerment.

Recognizing the potential to serve the broader community, Michel teamed up with Officer Mandi DeFrain and Sergeant DaNeshia Barrett to expand the initiative. Their shared vision: to provide free, judgment-free access to gently used and new clothing for those who need it most.

In 2019, the Ladies in Blue Clothing Closet became an official community event, drawing nearly 200 attendees in its first year. After a brief pause in 2020 due to the pandemic, the event returned stronger than ever — welcoming nearly 500 community members in 2022.

Looking Ahead: The Ladies in Blue are committed to continuing this annual tradition. In addition to the October event, they’ve also launched an emergency clothing closet in partnership with the Beaverton Police Department. This initiative provides immediate clothing support to individuals affected by crime or trauma, identified by BPD officers.
