Embrace an Active Lifestyle of Independence, Connection, & Peace of Mind At The Springs at Tanasbourne

As we age, we want to maintain our independence as long as possible. For most residents at The Springs at Tanasbourne, they don’t just live independently—they thrive.
“We started looking for a place because we wanted to make the decision for ourselves,” said Sue Ann Irving, who moved into the community four years ago with her husband, John. “The phrase you hear a lot is, ‘I want to age in place in my own home.’ But aging in place really means you’re going to be lonely a fair amount and you’re not going to eat as well. You come to a community and you’re going to eat much better and you are not going to be lonely because things are going on all the time.”
The Irvings are among a group of residents that advises the life enrichment team as it creates a robust calendar of events that residents want.
“It’s like a cruise ship,” said John. And he ought to know; the Irvings have been on 28 cruise trips and visited 64 countries. “We have the entertainment in the evenings, all our food prepared, housekeeping that comes in, and tours off the ship, so to speak.”
The Irvings are active both inside the community and out. In addition to their travels (they have four big trips planned this year), their strong ties to Oregon State University mean the couple frequents the Corvallis campus for sporting events year-round. And when they’re in the community, they have many friends nearby. In fact, their good friends, who they met on a cruise, moved into The Springs around the same time.
“It was really helpful that we already had close friends here that were learning the ropes at the same time,” Sue Ann said. “I feel it’s very easy to get adjusted here. The challenge is to not take on too many things because there’s so much to do.”
At The Springs at Tanasbourne, delicious food is served 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., whether in the community’s pub or the dining room. Residents can also enjoy the indoor pool, outdoor courtyard, fitness center, movie theater, and hair salon. Located where Hillsboro and Beaverton meet, the community is just steps away from a wide variety of restaurants and shopping. Residents can meet a friend for a walk around Magnolia Park or a cup of coffee next door.
“It’s just wonderful here,” John Irving said. “I think we’re going to live longer because we’re here.”
