Embracing the new year: Making Beaverton the best it can be

As we embrace the fresh start that a new year brings, I am thrilled to share the promising outlook for the City of Beaverton. 2024 will be filled with opportunities and exciting developments that will continue to enrich our community.

We can anticipate the growth of our local economy with the opening of new businesses, including what will be the largest REI in the state, promising both outdoor enthusiasts and jobseekers a new destination. As a City, we will continue to strive to have the most dynamic, exciting economy in the Portland metro region. In 2024, we will continue our focus on bringing in quality jobs, enjoyable shopping experiences, and businesses that service our community needs.

Our strides towards compassionately addressing homelessness will see a significant advancement with the opening of a year-round shelter. This facility showcases our community’s resolve to offer a hand up to those in need and will help ensure that every member of our community has access to safe shelter.

In our continuous effort to enhance connectivity, we are set to celebrate the expansion of TriMet service with the extension of the MAX Red line. This improvement will not only enable easier commutes but will also make our city more accessible to all, fostering a stronger sense of community. This will also enable more people to have reliable access to public transit, lowering their carbon footprint.

As your Mayor, I am dedicated to advancing the principles of livability, connectedness, accessibility, safety, and sustainability. These values will ensure a future where every Beaverton resident can thrive.

Let’s step into 2024 with optimism and a collective commitment to making our city the best it can be.
