Enjoy live outdoor music this Summer

One of my favorite activities in summer is live music outdoors. A good gathering or festival will have a variety of bands, plenty of food options, activities for the kids, and a good balance of open sunny spots and shade.

Live outdoor music is back in full swing this summer. You will find all sorts of music festivals, balloon festivals, kite festivals, outdoor markets, and more.

Here is a sampling of the places I might end up this summer with family and friends:

  • The Beaverton Community Band is hosting a number of events this summer. You can find them and their friends June 29 at Pioneer Park, July 9 at the Beaverton Farmer’s Market, and July 13 at Camille Park. Check their website for other performance dates and locations.
  • THPRD continues its tradition of Summer Concerts in the Park. They have lots of dates and locations: June 20 at Mt. View Champions Park; June 29 at Pioneer Park; July 4 at Veterans Memorial Park; July 13 at Camille Park (with the Beaverton Community Band); July 25 at Commonwealth Lake Park; August 10 at Autumn Ridge Park; August 22 at Greenway Park.
  • Florian Raqueño Productions is hosting three music festivals this summer. July 26-27 is the Sherwood Music Festival at Stella Olson Park Amphitheater. August 3 is the Hillsboro Music Festival at Shute Park. August 24 is the Beaverton Music Festival at Schiffler Park.
  • The Tigard Festival of Balloons is having its 40th anniversary event June 21-23 at Cook Family Park. Always a community favorite with beautiful balloons, great music, activities of all kinds, and dozens of food options.
  • La Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival graces the streets of downtown Hillsboro the weekend of July 20-21. Watch amazing artists create works of art on the street. Join the kids, parents, grandparents and more in crafting your own chalk masterpiece. And listen to a great variety of bands and performers at several locations, including the main stage at Civic Center Plaza.

These events bring our community together for fun and friendship. Pack your picnic basket. Grab a blanket and chairs. Fill the cooler. And get ready to share joy with others.

See you all there!
