Experience an African Safari and view the ‘Great Migration’ (Glamping options available)

Across the Maasai Mara Savanah (Kenya): An African safari offers a journey into the extraordinary like no other. The true diversity of the African continent means that the traveler can experience everything from the big five (Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Elephants, and the African Buffalo), to the great migration and its river safaris. It has it all. Luxury camps and lodges, to a traditional, in the wild, African safari. We can tailor your ideal trip to your specific requirements and enjoy a truly once in a lifetime adventure, by putting you in the right place, at the right time to maximize your wildlife safari experience whether that might be the big cats on the prowl, elephants at dusk or a rhino on the charge.

Best Time to Go: (Kenya) Peak Safari Season: July – October (my choices are July & August)

With Kenya’s cooler, drier weather during these months, you can come upon the ‘Great Migration’ of Wildebeests & Zebras as they travel over the savannah, and in national parks such as the Maasai Mara & Amboseli. With the change of weather, it means less vegetation for wildlife, so they won’t stray too far from what’s left of the water. Leopards spend most of their time in the trees, so they are easier to spot with fewer leaves.

Due to Kenya’s equatorial setting, the country enjoys year-round warm weather and relatively low annual rainfall. However, with a range of altitudes and the country’s two rainy seasons, it is possible you will experience some variation depending on when and where you visit. The temperatures vary greatly from Nairobi to Kaikipia, and from Nakuru to the coastal regions.

The combination of the migration and the open skies and lush surroundings creates an outstanding safari experience, additionally viewing the Big Five and a variety of other African species in their natural habitats, is a perfect visit during the dry season.

Experience the ‘Great Migration’:

The exact timing of the renowned natural event can never be guaranteed, as it is ultimately up to the whims of the wildebeest and other animals, but it goes without saying that this is one of the best times to visit Kenya if you want an impactful wildlife event! The animals’ movements can be estimated to a fair degree of accuracy, however: they can arrive in the Massai Mara as early as July, but as a general rule, they can be found in abundance between August and September, beginning their journey back to the Serengeti around October. This is a spectacular event where you can witness river crossings and predator-prey interactions.

Glamping Accommodations: ‘Glamping’ is a popular option. The word Glamping is a relatively new term that combines the word of ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping.’ It refers to a type of luxury camping where people can enjoy the outdoors in comfort and style.

Groups are limited to 6-8 passengers and this once-in-a-lifetime trip will generally start about $5k per person, for a one-week trip with ‘basic accommodations. Of course, the more luxury you require the more it will cost. But the experience and memories outweigh the cost many times over.
