In Tualatin Valley, nature, agriculture, history and wine are undeniably intertwined. The Vineyard and Valley Scenic Tour Route showcases this special commingling of attractions along its 60-mile drive through the serene Oregon countryside.
Sights and Sites Along the Route: The Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge–situated on a former dairy farm–is an urban national wildlife refuge and one of the region’s most important bird areas. With more than 250 species of birds that call this area home, this year-round attraction is popular among birdwatchers.
Hoffman Farms is a family-run destination farm that is open from late spring through fall. Farm experiences range from berry picking to farm-to-table dinners and live music events.
Enjoy lunch at South Store Café. Set in a 100-year-old clapboard building, this local favorite spot features a full coffee bar and a variety of pastries, homemade soups, sandwiches and more.
Across the street from the cafe is the venerable Smith Berry Barn, which has u-pick berries and apples, as well as a gift shop that is stocked with local and gourmet food products, items for the home and gifts.
The Tualatin Plains Presbyterian Church, also known as the Old Scotch Church was completed in 1878 and is a national historic site. It has an unusual eight-sided steeple and is one of the oldest continuously used churches in Oregon.
Helvetia Vineyards & Winery offers welcoming tastings where wine lovers can discover new favorites and learn about the rich soil and history that shape their favorite varietals.
