Happy New Year! My resolutions for Beaverton

As we step into 2025, I want to share some of my resolutions for our city.

This year, we are setting our sights on making life more affordable for everyone who calls Beaverton home. From programs aimed at bringing back starter homes to ensuring housing affordability, we are determined to create pathways for people to put down roots and thrive. On the Downtown Loop, we’re kicking off an exciting test project that will be the next step in transforming our city center into a vibrant, walkable space.

In 2024, we made meaningful strides with the opening of Beaverton’s first year-round shelter—a testament to what we can achieve when we work together. This year, we’re continuing to collaborate with our equity team to ensure our government is inclusive and reflective of our diverse community. Everyone should feel welcome in this community, and it’s our job in government to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to be heard.

As a veteran, I know the power of setting goals and working toward them. My resolution this year is to continue fostering opportunities for residents to engage with their city. I encourage you to attend a council meeting, explore volunteer opportunities, or simply connect with your neighbors. It’s going to take work from all of us to meet our community’s lofty goals.

Let’s make 2025 a year of action and achievement. As a toast to the new year, here’s to setting ambitious goals, working hard to meet them, and creating a community we can all be proud of. The future of Beaverton is bright—and it’s shaped by all of us.”
