Helping Families in Need with THPRD’s Holiday GIFT CARD Drive
Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is partnering with the Beaverton School District and Beaverton Family Promise to create a warmer, brighter holiday season for Beaverton area families and students in need with our annual Holiday Giving Drive.
This year things will be a bit different. THPRD is asking patrons to donate gift cards exclusively (no toys or clothing will be accepted). “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we thought it was best to collect just gift cards this year,” said Holly Thompson, Communications Director. “The gift cards will be distributed to Beaverton School District families and families served by Beaverton Family Promise, which offers emergency shelter.”
Purchasing gift cards is a great way to support students. Gift cards give families the freedom to buy personal items, necessities, or gifts. All donation amounts are being accepted.
Tips for Gift Card Donations:
- Any amount is helpful: Organizers are asking for gift cards in the amount of $5, $10, $20, $25, $50, or more. All amounts are welcome.
- Variety of Stores is Good: Gift cards to grocery stores, local businesses, or large retailers, are all welcome.
THPRD will be accepting gift cards through Dec. 15 at the following locations.
- Howard M. Terpenning (HMT) Recreation Complex: 15707 SW Walker Rd: Babette Horenstein Tennis Center, Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center, Tualatin Hills Athletic Center
- Cedar Hills Recreation Center: 11640 SW Park Way
- Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center: 9985 SW 125th Ave
THPRD has Lots of Options to Keep You Active
THPRD has been able to reopen several facilities. The centers have some changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both in the activities offered and the processes to access services.
As the winter progresses, with potential changes in state guidance, please visit the district’s website to stay to-date on any changes to facility offerings or hours of operation.
Due to the pandemic, THPRD will continue to rely on the district’s website www.thprd.org/portal as the primary way to share class information and program offerings. THPRD will not be preparing a print activities guide for the winter, spring, summer terms in 2021.
Reservations Required for Most Activities:
Patrons can register for their favorite amenities such as the weight room or sign up for classes online at www.thprd.org/portal. Reservations can be made one week in advance for use of the weight room, indoor courts & gyms, and fitness classes.
We appreciate your help adjusting to this new process as we comply with state requirements for contact tracing, physical distancing, and class size limits.
How to Register:
To register please go to www.thprd.org/portal. Patrons must have a THPRD account to register. If you do not have access to a computer or if you require assistance from a staff member to register, you may call the center to reserve your spot.
Health & Safety Information:
THPRD is following all Oregon Health Authority and state guidelines for workout facilities. Face coverings, specifically masks, are required for individuals over the age of five inside THPRD buildings. The district has limited the number of people in the facilities and reduced class sizes consistent with state guidance. All equipment has been spaced to allow six feet of separation. All equipment and spaces will be cleaned and disinfected after every reservation timeframe. District maintenance staff has carried out enhanced cleaning procedures for the facilities including upgrades to the buildings’ air filter systems. All building visitors must register to ensure compliance with state-required contact tracing requirements.
