Introducing Indigo Rescue: Everyone deserves a home. Everyone.

Health issues, past trauma, advanced age or even an odd personality quirk can put a dog at risk in the animal rescue world, and that is exactly where Indigo Rescue focuses its efforts.  For more than 25 years, Indigo’s dogs have become the ideal, one-of-a-kind family members because the organization does whatever is needed, for however long it is need, to find a one-of-a-kind home that is just right for each of them.

The unique nature of Indigo Rescue’s focus means we work to fill the unmet needs of animals that fall through the cracks of the rescue system.  In fact, the vast majority of Indigo’s dogs are transferred to our care by other shelters and rescues that aren’t set up to deal with unique issues.  Were it not for such transfers, local euthanasia rates would be tragically higher.

The vast majority of Indigo’s dogs will never become adoptable in a shelter environment, so developing a large network of foster homes is essential to what we do.  Our dogs need a home environment where they can get stronger, learn to trust and start to learn what it means to be part of a family. Many just need a soft place to land—not the cold, frightening environment of a crowded shelter. Finding their perfect home starts by learning what a real home is.
