It’s starting to feel like Spring: Let’s get our lives back

Well, it’s finally starting to feel like Spring is here—and not just because of the change in the weather.

There’s a sense of optimism in the air as we collectively hold our breath and look for signs of hope that the worst of the pandemic is behind us. Our schools are reopening this month, and our COVID-19 counts are looking better.

As we work together to continue reopening our economy, we have a shared responsibility to keep our safety measures in place. As tempting as it is to book a trip or plan a party, we’re not quite there yet.

For now, we need to keep wearing our masks, limiting gatherings, and maintaining our distance. With three safe and effective vaccines available, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m grateful that our federal and state leadership are working to increase supply and speed up distribution. And I’m grateful to Beaverton’s Emergency Response Staff and volunteer CERT team who have been on the front line, facilitating one of the largest vaccine PODs in Washington County in a public-private partnership. And if you didn’t know, the vaccines are totally free. By getting vaccinated, we will have the chance to return to the people and places we love.

Let’s get our lives back. When it’s your turn, sign up to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
