Jumbo’s Pickleball introduces nine indoor courts to Beaverton community: The fastest growing sport in the country

When Jumbo’s Pickleball opened in February, it became the first indoor 9-court gym in Beaverton fully dedicated to the rapidly growing sport of pickleball. Co-owners and friends, Roshan Fernando and Bryan Wieden, who both grew up in the Portland-area, envisioned with their team a facility that would offer the very best experience for people to play, compete and continue their pickleball journey.

A state-of-art facility:

Locally owned and operated, the 27,000-square foot space in the former Indoor Goals was remodeled over a four-month period. Every design decision to bring Jumbo’s Pickleball to life has prioritized the playing experience.

When guests arrive, they’ll find nine high cushioned courts engineered for the truest bounce—the same courts used by major professional tournaments. The space features high quality indirect lighting for optimum viewing and playing. Another selling point: year-round comfort. The building remains warm, dry when Oregon’s weather calls for it, and cool and shaded in the Summer.

Jumbo’s offers two lounge areas to enjoy an assortment of snacks and beverages, including wine and beer. Members also have access to an upstairs co-working space to take calls or answer emails with a bird’s-eye-view of all nine courts.

Many ways to play:

One of Jumbo’s priorities in creating a vibrant experience for its guests is their daily programming for players at every skill level. The team curates a variety of level-based play, games and lessons. For players just starting out, an Intro to Pickleball class is offered nearly every day of the week.

Getting started:

Reservations can be made via Jumbo’s website and a dedicated mobile app. Prices start at less than $14 when guests make a court reservation with five friends (courts are $40 per hour and can be split amongst friends). Organized play is offered at $19.98 per session and lessons vary, starting around $30 per person. Jumbo’s also welcomes monthly and annual Membership options with additional benefits like reduced fees, advanced reservations, guest passes and more.

Players should plan to wear or bring official court shoes to help maintain the high-quality court surface. A Pro Shop selling merchandise also includes equipment for rent, demo or purchase.

Jumbo’s Pickleball is open 7-day days a week, 8am-10pm at 16340 NW Bethany Court in Beaverton. Visit www.jumbospickleball.com
