KPTV FOX Channel 12: New Center for the Arts
By KPTV Staff
The Beaverton Arts Foundation received a $13 million donation by Pat Reser through the Reser Family Foundation.
The money will go toward its new center for the arts, providing nearly one-third of the $46 million dollars needed for the project.
Today also marked the announcement of the official name of the facility, the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts.
“I believe we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform the future of this community and region. This center will be a place to celebrate artistic expression in all its forms. My hope is that it will help artists and arts flourish and will impact residents positively for generations to come,” Reser said.
The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts will include a 550-seat theater, classrooms, meeting and conference rooms, rehearsal and workshop space, art gallery, outdoor plaza, café, lobby and informal gathering areas.
The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts also received a $1 million gift from Arlene Schnitzer and Jordan Schnitzer through The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation.
“It’s been both a personal dream and a community-driven vision to have a dedicated home for arts and culture in Beaverton. It will be a stage for inspiration and creativity to shine, a place for people to feel connected,” Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle said.
The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts is a City of Beaverton project. Design development is underway, and both construction and funding timelines anticipate groundbreaking at the end of 2019 with a grand opening in early spring 2021.
