Meet our newest counselor, Angela Alipio!

In March of 2021, I was tired of working an unfulfilling, dead-end job. I decided to quit my job and prayed with an open heart. God answered quickly and gave specific instructions, “Go back to school, make sure it’s a Christian school, become a Marriage and Family Therapist, and help others.” I stepped out in faith and accepted God’s calling. He made a way, and two and a half years later, I graduated from Colorado Christian University with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am currently employed at DIRKSE Counseling and Consulting as a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and I am working towards licensure.
I specialize in working with couples, utilizing techniques and interventions from Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I help couples connect on a deeper level by increasing empathy, developing better understanding, and teaching the couple how to communicate in more thoughtful and effective ways. I help couples manage conflict and find ways to compromise. When couples struggle with betrayal, I help them heal by taking steps toward forgiveness and rebuilding trust.
I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy. One of the greatest benefits is developing deeper self-awareness. When you understand yourself, your triggers, and any unhealthy patterns, a therapist can help you process past trauma, find effective ways to cope, increase your resilience, and guide you toward decisions that support your goals.
My number one tip for managing stress throughout the holiday season is to have an attitude of gratitude. When we focus on the things we are grateful for, it’s easier to get through the stressful times. It helps us focus on the positive instead of ruminating on the negative.
I love animals and spend a lot of my down time taking care of my chickens on my small hobby farm. I also enjoy traveling, making greeting cards, mushroom hunting, clamming, hiking, playing pickleball, going on tandem bike rides with my husband, and trying new restaurants. Most of all, I love spending time with God, family, and friends.
