More than a Job: Helping people. It’s what we do

#BeavertonBacktoWork

Twenty-five years ago, when Dirkse Counseling and Consulting (Dirkse CC) opened its doors in Beaverton, Oregon, it was one woman making ends meet for her family, while doing what she loved: helping people with disabilities to secure and keep employment. Today, the Dirkse CC team has grown to seventeen employees, each meeting the sunrise with a similar passion and purpose.

Over the years, Dirkse CC has had remarkable success. Thousands of people with disabilities have been helped to find and keep meaningful work. Employers have moved beyond bias and learned to see ability. People seeking mental health counseling have found better ways to cope and live. Yet, with all this success, there is so much more to do and so many people who still want and need help.

This month, Dirkse Counseling and Consulting celebrates its 25th anniversary. As founder, I want to give a shout-out of gratitude to those who have made this milestone possible: the people we serve, for their courage in seeking help for a better life; area employers, who see the potential in people; our community and education partners, who strive with us toward a common goal; and the team at Dirkse CC, both past and present, for their dedication to the mission of helping others have their best life.

To 2022 and beyond!
