New Beaverton High School

Construction is underway for one of Oregon’s oldest public high schools, and FOX 12 got a look at how the new Beaverton High School is taking shape.

The company Skanska is contracted to build the more than 300,000-square foot facility that will replace the 100-year-old original building. Officials say the new facility focuses on three main improvements: seismic, security, and safety. “Seismic was a huge and important feature for us and the community having the ability to use the facility in case of an earthquake,” said Aaron Boyle, administrator for facilities development. “The way the courtyard is laid out will create a very clear, where the students go and where the community goes, and will create for a very safe facility.”

Boyle says the school will also have no entrances accessible from Farmington Road to add to the school’s security. He also says that making sure the facility is able to meet the needs of present and future students was a top priority. “The old facility lasted for a hundred years, and we want this new facility to last a hundred years,” Boyle said.

This is just one of several upgrades planned for Beaverton School District schools. The new Beaverton High School is set to be ready for students by fall of 2026.
