Clean Up Your Yard and Help Your Community!

Want to get rid of those pesky leaves after cleaning up your yard? Join us at our free leaf disposal events! The city hosts these events to help residents easily dispose of unwanted leaves and pine needles. Bring your debris loose or in a paper bag (no plastic, please) and make sure each bag is under 50 pounds.

This program is for residents only, not for commercial businesses. Plus, we’re collecting food donations for local food banks, so you can help your community while tidying up your yard!

Drop off your leaves from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Operations Facility, 9600 Southwest Allen Blvd. Can’t make it? Leaf disposal will be available at the Operations Facility from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, Saturday, Nov. 1, through Saturday, Dec. 6.

Affordable Housing for Seniors Takes Shape in the Heart of Downtown:

Mayor Beaty, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, and community partners gathered at City Park in August to celebrate the vision of the Meadowlark Senior Affordable Housing development. This project is in the final permitting stages and is set to address the critical need for senior affordable housing in the area. This milestone comes with the support of a $3 million award from the State of Oregon, aimed at bolstering the development of this essential housing initiative.

Located in the heart of Beaverton, the Meadowlark development will offer 104 affordable housing units specifically designed for seniors. The project includes 96 one-bedroom units and eight studios, targeting very low-income seniors. Of these, 68 units are reserved for seniors earning 30 percent or below of the Area Median Income (AMI), 19 units will be supported by Section 8 vouchers, and 30 units will be designated for permanent supportive housing.

In addition to providing much-needed housing, the development will feature a Head Start program in its ground-floor commercial space. Operated by Community Action, a key partner in the project, this initiative will offer high-quality, affordable preschool education for children from low-income families.

Construction is slated to begin in early 2026, marking a significant step forward in Beaverton’s efforts to enhance housing opportunities for its senior residents.

The Meadowlark Senior Affordable Housing development is also supported by $10.5 million from the city’s allocation of Metro Affordable Housing Bonds. In 2018, Metro voters approved a $652.8 million bond, with $31 million allocated to Beaverton for the creation of 218 affordable housing units. Since then, the city has successfully developed 299 new affordable housing units using these funds, with projects like The Mary Ann, Elmonica Station, and Wishcamper development contributing to this total. Upon completion of the Meadowlark project, Beaverton will have nearly doubled its initial goal, bringing the total to 403 new units.

What’s Next for Affordable Housing in Beaverton:

Great news for Beaverton residents! Our city is making strides in affordable housing, ensuring everyone can enjoy the local amenities, no matter their income.

Here’s a look at other projects currently underway:

Amity Orchards, located in the South Cooper Mountain area, has just opened its doors. This development offers 164 units across three buildings, with 80 units dedicated to seniors.
Elmonica, situated at the corner of SW 170th Avenue and SW Baseline Road, began construction in January 2025 and is expected to be completed by late 2026. This project will include 84 units, including studios and one—, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
