Our Town: New recycling program offers way to recycle more items at home

#BeavertonCityNews

Recycle+ is here! It’s a new, optional subscription service available to residential garbage and recycling collection customers living in Beaverton.

Recycle+ collects four core materials: plastic film, textiles, clear #1 plastic clamshells, and compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs). In addition to these four items, the program will collect other items for recycling or reuse several times throughout the year.

This new program offers community members the ability to recycle items that can’t go into the mixed recycling bins. This is possible because customers separate them into appropriate categories and set them out for pickup in a designated purple bin.

If you are interested in participating, simply contact your garbage and recycling company. While the program is not yet available to community members living in apartments, work is underway to make it available to everyone and hope to have a program for apartments by the end of this year.
