Support Local Artists at The Curio: Presented by Beaverton Arts Market: Beaverton Arts Market is the new identity of Beaverton Arts Mix!. The city is excited to announce that the first exhibition and sale is The Curio, in partnership with The Reser. Get Rid of Unwanted Leaves at Leaf Disposal Events! The city is hosting free leaf disposal events to allow residents to get rid of unwanted leaves.
DROP-OFF SCHEDULE
- On Saturdays through Nov. 30, drop off your leaves from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Highland Park Middle School, 7000 SW Wilson Av
- On Sundays through Dec. 8, drop off your leaves from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Operations Facility, 9600 Southwest Allen Blvd.

After The Snow Falls: Public Works Crews Hit the Road! Though uncommon in Beaverton, snow can certainly make it difficult to accomplish everyday tasks. When a winter storm hits, Beaverton Public Works crews work 24 hours a day to clear roads, remove fallen trees, and keep the streetlights on.
When can I expect my road to be serviced after a snow event? For small or short winter events, sanding is sufficient. Residential streets are not normally sanded, except for roads used for emergency vehicle access. High-volume streets, major arterials, and collector roadways are given the highest priority.
In the case of a larger event, snowplows are used. Some streets are maintained by the state and county and sanded by the city. In exchange, the county and state pretreat several roads, overpasses, and bridges with deicer.

A Look at Emergency Management: The Emergency Management program oversees disaster preparedness for the city, its businesses, and community members, and the region.
“Emergency management is not just about reacting to disasters,” said Emergency Manager Nicole Kutchen. “It’s about building the systems and relationships that prevent small crises from becoming large-scale disasters.”

CERT: Supporting Beaverton First Responders and the Community During Emergencies The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a Federal Emergency Management Agency program to train community members to respond to emergencies and help when first responders are unavailable.
CERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
There are many paths to choose as a CERT member including amateur radio with the Beaverton Emergency Radio Team (BERT) that operates communication networks for the Emergency Management program.
