Ring in summer with local music, food, fun at Zoo Nights

Summer is just around the corner, and the Oregon Zoo is here for it! Zoo Nights takes place Friday evenings from June 21 through Aug. 23, with live local music, food carts, animal experiences and activities for all ages.

“Portland is known for its perfect summer evenings, and once they’re here, I look for every opportunity to get outside and have a good time with the kids,” said Heidi Rahn, zoo director. “Zoo Nights is a chance to enjoy a fun evening together and learn about wildlife.”

Zoo Nights features live music on the lawn at 6:30 p.m. and activities taking place from 5 p.m. on. The series kicks off June 21 with the Garcia Birthday Band and continues on June 28 with Talking Heads tribute band Life During Wartime.

Other performers include the following:

  • July 5 – Pa’Lante
  • July 12 – Ural Thomas and the Pain
  • July 19 – Robert Henry Band
  • July 26 – Orquestra Pacifico Tropical
  • 2 – Hit Factory with Patrick Lamb
  • 9 – Melao de Cuba
  • 16 – Jujuba
  • 23 – Aaron Nigel Smith

Food and snacks will be available, including the ever-popular elephant ears, plus a selection of local beer and wine for adults.
