Success after a long search

Hello Loyal Beaverton Readers: for this month, we will talk about how difficult it can be to find some cars at a certain budget. Geri has been reading the BRG for quite some time, so when her car got totaled, she knew who to call to help her get back behind the wheel. She told me exactly what she wanted right down to the make, model, color and price range. Geri and her husband are retired and needed expert guidance in getting a replacement vehicle.
I knew this could be difficult, but I began my search straight away. After a week, nothing fit Geri’s strict parameters. We spoke on the phone several times, touching base on anything I had seen or found that might work for her, but I couldn’t get quite close enough to what she wanted. Again and again, I continued to search, chasing leads up and down the state, but nothing was turning up even close to her price point. Geri and I had discussed increasing the budget in order to have a bigger chance of finding the right vehicle, but her budget was fixed. I continued to look into a second week.
Then one morning, a few days later, I decided to check the used car inventory of one of my new car suppliers and saw that they had just taken in a one owner, 2018 Honda CRV with crazy low miles but slightly over budget. I called the dealership, and they said the car was checked out, cleaned and ready for a test drive. By noon the same day, I had picked up Geri all excited and drove to the dealership to meet my friend, the general sales manager (a person I have worked with for several years, so trust was not an issue). He tossed us the keys and we went for a nice test drive. Geri loved how nice the car was and how much more modern it was than her old Honda Civic she had owned for several years. We returned to the dealership, and after some long consideration on Geri’s part, with the car priced slightly above budget, then adding in all the taxes and DMV fees, this almost perfect car was out of reach.
Why hire a car broker? Well, it’s situations like these that I can do my best work. I took my friend, the general sales manager, into his office for a little talk and after 30 minutes, the deal was done. The car was priced at $23,500 but Geri got it out the door for a total of $22k (right on budget!). We headed home, mission accomplished.
Thank you all for reading! We take pride in saving you time, money, and the misery of purchasing a vehicle.
