Come curious, leave inspired! Every 2nd Sunday for ArtChat from 3-5pm. Meet our Featured Artists, dive into their creative worlds, and enjoy refreshments as you experience the gallery in a new way!
Featured 2D: Amy Mower: “I am a multimedia artist working with acrylic paints, watercolor, tempera, tissue paper, and vintage ephemera to create paintings, collages and prints. I enjoy learning new things and seeing how far I can take a medium. I hope to tell a story with each piece. I also hope [the viewer] will linger long enough to start thinking about how [each piece] was created.”
Featured 3D: Rae Campbell: “ ‘Through the Years,’ is a collection of many different styles and techniques that I have learned working with glass since 1999. There is something magical that happens when you combine different types of glass material, then fire it in the kiln. There are endless possibilities with the degree of heat and the movement that happens. It still feels like Christmas morning every time I open the kiln and see the finished pieces!”
Big and Bold: Vicki Szukalla: “Contemplativa” (contemplative in Italian) is a 24”x24” impressionistic painting in neon acrylic, which is a departure from her work in oils. This painting was inspired by a photo of a friend enjoying a sunlit bay in Italy. The calm, thoughtful subject against the backdrop of her intensely saturated surroundings created an interesting contrast.

“Clay Sunday” (ceramics open studio) with Rose Rutherford-Ha. Third Sunday each month (Aug 16; Sept 20); Drop-in 1 – 3pm $20/hr, $10 supplies. This is a no pressure environment for all ages. If you have always wanted to give ceramics a try this workshop is for you! If you like what you make and want to keep it forever, there are additional fees for glaze and firing.
Introduction to Watercolor Painting with Susan Pfahl. Aug 4, 11, 18, 25; 7 – 9:30pm; $120; age 16+. Each class, we will experiment with how paint, paper, and water react together. Then we will paint simple paintings incorporating this “experiment” into our work. Masterpieces are unlikely, but skills will increase. Returning students are welcome to repeat this class. No prerequisites necessary.
Watercolor with Beth Pasino
- Lost Lake Galaxy – Aug 12; 12:30 – 3pm
- Surfing the Gorge – Aug 26; 12:30 – 3pm
- Cape Lookout – Aug 29; 1 – 3:30pm
Each class $40/person; age 18+. Beth will walk you through each step in these beginner-friendly classes introducing fundamental watercolor techniques. These classes are meant to be a relaxing and low-stakes way to enjoy yourself while creating something beautiful and learning new skills along the way!
Macrame Pot Hangers: Basics for Beginners with Lydia Thomas. Aug 14; 1 – 4pm; $60 (includes supplies); age 18+. Learn the basics of Macrame weaving and take your Pot Hanger home with you! No experience needed; anyone can learn these basic weaving techniques. A beautiful skill! Once you know how, you can create many beautiful and useful things for interior decor or gifts.
Tissue Paper Collage with Amy Mower. Aug 19; 11:30 – 2:30pm; $25 (includes supplies); age 18+. Let’s take vibrant, translucent tissue paper and layer it to create beautiful art! This unique use of materials allows for color mixing and texture layering that combines the ideas of watercolor with the process of collage. Come learn a new skill and get inspired!
