There’s a new app in town and it’s helping our chess club

Lylee Nebecker, an app maker, was recently driving home from working late. It was dark and rainy. She saw an Arby’s and pulled in. It was warm inside and smelled of food, but what really caught her attention was the happy group playing chess. Something she also loved to do. She talked to me (Coach Larry) and found out it was the Beaverton Chess Club and that it meets every Thursday there at the Arby’s on Cedar Hills Boulevard. She told him that the club should be on her new app as a way to let other chess players know about the club and when it meets.

Lylee and her partners hope the app, called Float, will give a platform to a variety of groups (like our chess club) that have no marketing so struggle to get their word out. This app would also help local people know where to find the activities they may be interested in. Together, it will not only get more people active and involved but it also builds a more connected community.
