Welcoming Week – THPRD will be celebrating immigrant and refugee communities with our annual observance of Welcoming Week, Sept. 10–19.

Cedar Mill Cider Festival: Saturday, Sept. 26 from 12 – 4pm – Join us for the 18th celebration of food, music, history, and community at the JQA Young House and Park.

Fiesta de Superhéroes de la Naturaleza: The Nature Center is hosting an open house style event for Spanish speaking families on Sept. 12 from 2 – 6 pm. There will be a raffle, guided hikes, giveaways, bounce house, live band, handcraft workshop and lots more fun activities for the whole family. The event is FREE.

Cedar Hills Rec Center Updates:

NEW Women’s Hiking Series, Hike One: Sunday, Sept. 20, 8:30-11:30 am. Join us for a scenic 3.3-mile hike at the Tryon Creek Natural Area.
NEW Middle School No School Day Adventures: Monday, Sept. 21, 8 am – 4:30 pm. Do games, outdoor play, group activities all day long, and go on field trips, this day they’ll be going to Top Golf.

Conestoga Rec & Aquatic Center Updates:

NEW Preschool Play & Care: Mondays or Wednesdays, 4:30 – 7 pm, Sept. 14 – Oct. 19. Need a supervised evening for your younger children so you have time to get things done? These times are designed for that!
Fiesta de Cultura: Saturday, Sept. 19, 12 – 5:30 pm. Join us at Evelyn M. Schiffler Memorial Park for a vibrant celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! Enjoy a family-friendly afternoon filled with music, food, and cultural activities. FREE

Elsie Stuhr Center Updates:

Annual Health and Wellness Resource Fair: Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 – 12:30 pm – Meet local health and wellness vendors, attend informational lectures, visit the vaccination clinic and take advantage of free health screenings.
Stuhr Fire Rhythm Group Concert: Friday, Sept. 11 from 2 – 4 pm – Join us for an uplifting, interactive concert featuring special guest MS Robi K. Enjoy the energy of live drumming, clap along to the beat, and experience the joy of music in this lively performance.

Garden Home Rec Center

New-Girls Only Soccer: Fridays, 5-5:45pm, ages 7-10yrs Sept 18 – Oct. 16. A fun, supportive, and confidence‑building class designed just for girls! Players will learn fundamental soccer skills, improve coordination, and build teamwork.
Monday Therapeutic Recreation-Apple Cider Night: Sept. 21, 6:30 – 8:30 pm: A hands-on class where you’ll create your very own fresh apple cider from start to finish! For 16+ who experience disabilities.

THPRD Opens Parkside Building: In August, THPRD consolidated our administrative and maintenance staff in one location, the Parkside Building (located off Greenbrier Rd.) next to the HMT campus. This move came because the Portland Timbers wanted to purchase the building we shared near 217/Allen Blvd. to expand their operations. As a result of that building sale, we were able to purchase a building next to our flagship campus.

Fall Adult Volleyball at the Tualatin Hills Athletic Center: Our adult volleyball leagues are growing. The Fall season starts in September and concludes in December.

Youth Volleyball League at the Tualatin Hills Athletic Center: Our youth volleyball leagues will begin Sept. 14, with a kickoff jamboree on Sept. 19.

Life Jacket Loaner Program: Need a lifejacket to stay safe around the pool or lake? We have life jackets available to be loaned out for free to new or experienced swimmers. Call the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center at 503-629-6310 to reserve one.

Nature & Trails Update: Clean Water Services began construction work on a stream re-meander and bank stabilization project at the west end of Bethany Lake in early August. This project is expected to run through September and aims to reinforce and protect the sewer line that runs along the berm between Bethany Lake and Rock Creek.
