Viva Village is provides sheer enjoyment in my life
I joined Viva Village in February, 2025 and have found it quite invigorating to meet so many interesting seniors in the group. I make time in my busy work and parenting schedule to go to several events monthly, if only for the sheer enjoyment this group provides in my life.
One of the things I really like about the group is how it has encouraged me to “be myself” again… reminds me not so much of high school, or of my university days at OSU when, as an Engineering and English Ed major, I wrote poetry all the time.
Eccentric in Search of Tribe
- Eccentric old man seeks to locate his tribe
- Certain, hopeful, they still do exist
- Core memories held from a college-time vibe
- Ever present, still feelings persist.
- No reason, he thinks, to quit or give up
- This aging is but a new stage,
- Reminded the sifting sands don’t measure up
- It’s still just illusion, this “Age”
- Cause our history within, still beats in our hearts
- In constant reminder all’s fair…
- No point to resign, (far less for old farts)
- Surely moon dust still hangs in the air!!
- Each moment that passes is an opportune dance
- A mirrored reflection to greet,
- Rejoicing to recognize friendlies, perchance
- Called forth from our yearnings, to meet!
- Here together we celebrate, synergy smiles;
- One another united, connected
- Friendship is prologue to tomorrow’s miles
- Trod forward together, protected.
- Rejoice and remember you once believed
- In a protective umbrella above,
- Believe in it still, and rest now, relieved
- Eccentrics surround us as Love!
