Volunteer students will call donors to simply say “Thank you!” Day of Gratitude, October 3

Beaverton Education Foundation (BEF) will host its Day of Gratitude on Saturday, October 3, bringing together students from Beaverton School District high schools to call and thank BEF donors for their past support of Beaverton students. During the Day of Gratitude, students will call donors and simply say, “Thank you!” This meaningful, low-pressure experience builds real communication skills and deepens students’ connection to our Beaverton community.

For teacher Trevor Hennigan, and his students at Mountainside High School, “This BEF student-calling event has consistently been such an important opportunity for our students to come together and use their time to support an incredible local organization. BEF invests directly back into our schools, giving students opportunities that simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of BEF and the generosity of donors throughout our community.”

The team behind Day of Gratitude includes the BEF staff and board of directors, as well as two BSD student summer interns, Alex (Sunset High School) and Emily (Mountainside High School). These student interns have had the opportunity to gain career-readiness skills as they work to plan BEF’s first Day of Gratitude.

Twenty-five student groups are scheduled to participate in the inaugural Day of Gratitude, ranging from National Honor Society clubs, to school activities like theater and band. As an incentive for participation, each group that volunteers will receive funding from BEF to help offset group fees and expenses that lie ahead in the school year.

This year’s Day of Gratitude wouldn’t be possible without the support of BEF partners, including Columbia, Athleta, Arc’teryx, Fabletics, and Chick-fil-A. These partners are providing food and prizes for student-callers throughout the day on October 3, and we are grateful for their support for our students.

On October 3, Beaverton donors can expect a call from one of our students. It won’t be an ask, it will be a thank you, and we hope you’ll take a moment to answer.
