Where did all the RAV4 hybrids go?

Where did all the RAV4 hybrids go?

#BeavertonCarGuy

Hello Loyal Beaverton Readers! For this month I wanted to address the most popular question I am asked almost every day:

Why can’t I find a Toyota Hybrid, more specifically, a RAV4 Hybrid?”

This vehicle, along with the Prime Plug-in version, is one of the most challenging vehicles to find, let alone purchase. My Toyota suppliers tell me that there are nearly 200 customers in line who have made deposits and are awaiting these vehicles. The Toyota RAV4 is the best-selling SUV is the US and it is easy to see why. It is versatile with good passenger leg room, plenty of cargo space and sufficient power to smoothly climb hills or get up to highway speeds quickly, especially when merging into traffic.

Who wouldn’t want an SUV with superior gas mileage?

The best part about these vehicles is their great gas mileage: 41 MPG city and 38 in the highway! Needless to say, many people are looking to buy a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (or Prime plug-in Hybrid). Unfortunately, these same buyers have been in line waiting for over a year due to high demand and the continued microchip shortage as well as supply chain issues.

Then, as the media and government continue to encourage non-polluting vehicles, the craze for people to rush out and buy these eco-friendly cars is reaching new heights. This increased demand is being felt all too well with the unfortunate buyers who are just now trying to buy any Toyota Hybrid vehicle. In my estimate, they are about 3 years too late to the party to gain ownership of one anytime soon.

If you are one of those wanting to get in line, my advice is to be flexible with options desired, as well as trim level, color of paint and interior. There just aren’t many of these vehicles around and with so many wanting to get behind the wheel of this great car, the manufacturer just cannot keep up with production.

Note: keep in mind that replacing the batteries in the RAV4 hybrid can cost as little as $2000 but up to $7000, and according to J.D. Power, this expense can occur in as little as 3-5 years.

Thank You all for reading.
