Which day in August are you looking forward too?

#UpliftingMessage

  • The month of August brings with it a variety of things to celebrate- another four weeks of sunshine-filled days and warm evenings, last minute vacations, and a return to familiar routines as kids get ready to go back to school. But did you know there are a number of unofficial holidays this month that provide even more reasons to salute, including:
  • World Wide Web Day on August 1,
  • Left-Handers Day on August 13, and
  • National Dog Day on 8/26

Read on to discover a few of our favorite August happenings and how you can commemorate these special occasions while creating lasting memories for the whole family.

August 3 – Watermelon Day: Beat the heat (and hydrate) with this delicious, summertime treat that is 92% water. Spread the joy by picking up a watermelon or two at a local farmers market, and then slice it up to share, put it into a fruit salad, or make yummy, watermelon-themed drinks.

August 9 – National Book Lover’s Day: This is a day to enjoy some downtime and dive into a good book! Whether that means scouring your local library for the perfect find, supporting a small bookstore with a purchase, or simply grabbing a favorite from your own collection, this day provides the perfect opportunity to honor all things reading and literature.

August 30 – National Beach Day: If you are looking for an excuse to kick off your shoes, relax on the warm sand or play in the waves, then this is YOUR day! Can’t get to the ocean, or even a river or lake? How about enjoying a beach-themed activity such as Frisbee, or volleyball, spend some time sunbathing on a porch or patio, or try relaxing while listening to audio of ocean sounds.
